Torus 1.4 for the Palm handheld

Torus 1.4 is a program for the Palm handheld computer that searches the TORUS tune database for a given shape sequence and displays a list of matches and the details for each tune, as shown in these screenshots. It's cunningly designed so that you can look up a single tune quickly using only the hard keys, without needing the stylus at all. To use the program you'll also need to install TDBlib, my small shared library of useful things. You can download both together as a zip file (15kB).

The tune data is stored separately as a MobileDB database called TorusDB, and the main Torus database is available in this format as a zip file (50kB). MobileDB is one of a number of simple database formats for PalmOS: I chose it because the basic packages to deal with it are free. MobileDB Lite (404kB) allows you to view (but not edit) MobileDB databases on the handheld, and MobileDB_PC (222kB) runs on a Windows PC and converts a CSV file to the MobileDB format. Both these packages are by Handmark, who also provide CSV converters for other operating systems, and sell a full database editor for the handheld. However, you do not need to install any of these packages to use Torus 1.4.

Warning: Version 1 of TDBlib, and hence Torus 1.3, contained a number of bugs. Please do not use these versions, but replace them with Torus 1.4 and TDBlib 2 as above. Note that deleting the old TDBlib 1 may require a soft reset (indeed this was one of the bugs). Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
